Muse is a figurative piece that explores the perception of scale. The work is semi-abstracted with pronounced texture in the original clay model that is reflected in the casting. This creates a connection between the viewer and the sculpture, but at the same time maintains a distance. The viewer is part of the work but can’t contain it.
Contextual references include the scale studies of Alberto Giacometti, the early sculptural abstractions of Pablo Picasso, and the work of Thomas Houseago.
