Sideways

An exploration of sculpture as perceived through the lens of painting. At 150 cm square the work has a physical presence relative to the size of the viewer and there is a direct bodily engagement. A 3-way connection between the viewer, the artwork, and the environment is created. The yarn is used to define and emphasise form by the use of colour. There is a tactile and material contrast between the paper pulp and yarn that further emphasises the form.
