Three
different student groups use the school and need their own discrete
areas, circulation and identity. On a very constrained urban site
these elements are used to create an outdoor courtyard that becomes the
heart of the school. Dining is provided adjacent to the courtyard
and reinforces the idea of the center.
External circulation is provided between elements to provide a
psychological distinction. An undulating steel canopy covered
with translucent ETFE provide the link between all elements. This
provides two reception areas at each end of the canopy, one for the
main entry, and the second for the largest student group within the
school.
